Owner Lisa Dowd caught the cooking bug when recovering from surgery in 2005, and grew passionate about cooking food while watching Rachael Ray, Julia Child and Ina Garten. She would spend a great deal of time on the weekends cooking for family and friends. Lisa worked in “Corporate America” for 32 years, and decided to turn her passion for cooking into a business at the age of 50! A big fan of cheese (and wine!), Grilled Cheese was chosen since this great comfort food is loved by people of all ages! While driving on the Mass. Turnpike (I-90) visiting her son in college in Boston, it occurred to Lisa that there wasn’t anything like great, homemade comfort foods sold at the Service Plazas (Rest Areas) on the Pike … and the owners of the Plazas agreed! This crazy idea of “americanizing” Indian food. I’m Canadian born, raised by South African parents who immigrated in the late 1960’s. South Africa, to this day, has the largest population of Indians outside of India. Like every Indian family, my Mum is an amazing cook who altered the recipes, handed down from her Mum, to make them healthier. She dramatically cut down the use of oil and deep frying. I have taken her cooking concept, along with others I have picked up along the way, to create the menu at TIFFIN BOX. With nearly 17 years of restaurant experience, from living in Canada, South Africa, UK and the USA, I am finally ready to share with you the food I grew up on and introduced to all my Canadian and American friends. History: The Great Greek Mediterranean Grill has a history of scrumptious food and a loyal customer base. The first location opened on May 5, 2011 in Henderson, Nevada. It was originally owned and operated by a Greek/Armenian family before being purchased by Nick Della Penna and Trent Jones, third generation restaurateurs with over 30 years’ experience in the hospitality industry. They made operational changes to the
restaurant, enhancing the restaurant’s performance. And took it to a whole new level of success. Building on that success, they opened a second location on
June 7, 2017 and since then have opened additional locations in Las Vegas and South Florida.
